New Look & Changes

August 26, 2008 – With the regular season only a few weeks away for some of the AAA teams, I am busy trying to get a handle on all the schedules and, of course, the new lineups. Once again, I will be back in the Welland Main Arena’s press box to announce as many weekly House League, A, AAA, High School and Tournament games as I can (and perhaps a Jr. B game or two, if the need arises…)

This season I have stepped into the role of Team Manager for the Welland Minor A Tigers and the Welland Major Midget AAA Tigers, which will mean that I will not be able to cover as many games as I did last season, due to traveling to tournaments and away games, however, when I am in town I will be happy to announce and write about the games that I can.

The customizable blog header, gives me the opportunity to showcase some of the great local kids who I’m writing about on this site.  If you have any suggestions for who should be featured, please feel free to send any ideas or pictures to jdisher@cogeco.ca

Once the season begins, I will be making changes to accommodate the teams and sponsors for the 2008-09 season.  All the articles from 2007-08 will remain available through the monthly archives. and I am in the process of identifying them through new tags and categories, to make searching for them easier.

One other change you will see in the coming weeks is that I will begin posting regularly on LocalSportsReport.com I’m not exactly sure what I will cover there, but it’s likely to be a mix of area high school sports, Jr. B hockey recaps and general commentary.  You can continue to look here for all my reports on the local minor hockey, lacrosse, football, ball hockey, soccer and the baseball beats.
