Port Colborne Sailors vs. Welland Rose City Pizzeria Tigers (Major Midget A)
An unassisted power-play marker was all the offence that the Welland Rose City Pizzeria Tigers could muster against the visiting Port Colborne Jr. Sailors on Wednesday night in Niagara District Major Midget A action, which put them on the losing side of a 4-1 decision.
After Port’s #17 Dylan Seebach opened the scoring on a solo effort at 2:31 of the first period before #3 Eric Panetta replied un-aided twine-buldger for the home side at 6:13. The Jr. Sailors restored their one goal lead on an unassisted tally from #7 at 7:12 of the period. #10 Dalton Wilson made it 3-1 in favour of the visitors only ten seconds into the second frame, on a helper from Seebach. #19 rounded out the scoring for Port at 14:00 of the third with an empty-net goal, which was also unassisted. #1 James Van Booz tended the twine for Port Colborne while Welland netminders #1 Derek D’Angelo and #30 Doug Pirson split time in the home crease.
Welland found themselves short-handed on three occasions without incident, while going 1-for-3 with the man advantage on the night.
