Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs vs. Welland E.S. Fox Limited Tigers (Major Bantam AAA)

The Welland E.S. Fox Limited Tigers struck first but could not hold on as the visiting Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs stormed back with four unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 defeat of the Tigers in Major Bantam AAA action on Wednesday evening at the Welland Main Arena.

#11 Jordan Bolibruck put the home side ahead at 4:15 of the second period on helpers from #4 Ryan Doan and #31 Jamie Phillips before the Jr. Bulldogs replied with a power-play marker at 5:54 from #88 Jordan Celebra, which was assisted by #10 Tyler Gaudet.  Hamilton beat Welland netminder #31 Jamie Phillips again at 8:52 when #13 Mark Rogers scored from #8 Michael Casale and #79 Matthew Millar.  #91 Matthew Paonessa scored his first of two on the night to give Hamilton a 3-1 advantage heading into the third period.

Paonessa scored from #42 Curt Edwards at 10:53 before Doan responded with a power-play marker for the Tigers to half the deficit to 4-2 at 12:38, on assists from #18 Matt Mateljan and #14 Dylan Gatt.  The Jr. Bulldogs found the back of the Welland net once more, with Casale scoring from Rogers and #7 Kyle Phibbs to produce the 5-2 final score.

Hamilton out-shot Welland roughly by a 2-to-1 margin, unofficially firing 18 shots on Phillips to Welland’s 10 shots on Hamilton’s #30 Marcus Del Conte.  Welland was 1-for-3 with the man-advantage on the night while Hamilton was 1-for-2,

The Tigers now stand at 9-20-2 on the season heading into their next game on the road Friday evening verus the Guelph Jr. Storm Cooperators.
