Niagara Falls Thunder vs. Welland Young’s Insurance Tigers (Major Bantam A)
The Welland Young’s Insurance Tigers clawed back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the third period, but could not hold on and skated to a 3-3 draw with the visiting Niagara Falls Thunder in Major Bantam A action on Wednesday evening.
Niagara Falls opened the scoring at 7:38 on a blast from the blueline and then scored only seconds later to establish a 2-0 advantage in the first period. Welland replied once in the second period at 2:59, and then at 1:21 and 5:33 of the third to pull ahead to a 3-2 lead. The Thunder would score only half-a-minute later, at 6:03 of the final frame to knot the game at three, which is how it ended. #30 Mike Choiniere minded the twine for Welland with #1 Chris Sacco patrolling the crease for Niagara Falls.
Welland was 1-for-6 with the man-advantage while Niagara Falls was 0-for-3. The Tigers will next see action during the Niagara District Playdowns, being held between February 8-10 in Niagara Falls.
