Grimsby Peach Kings vs. Welland Bob Robinson & Son Construction Tigers (Major Peewee A)
Two goals from #9 Randy Hutton and a single marker from #16 Matthew Marchese were enough for the visiting Grimsby Peach Kings to earn a 3-2 victory over the Welland Bob Robinson & Son Construction Tigers on Friday evening in Niagara District Major Peewee A action.
After the Tigers were unable to capitalized on two power-play chances during a scoreless first ten minutes of play, a normally reliable #1 Matt Bosnich had difficulty handling a high shot which dropped down behind the line for a 1-0 visitor lead at 1:42 of the second period. Unable to extend their lead during three power-plays in the second period, Grimsby allowed Welland to tie the game at 1:01 of the final frame on a goal by #9 Kyle Patterson, which was assisted by #19 Nathan Anderson and #12 Jacob Duguay.
Welland would cede a goal to Grimsby whie short-handed at 4:46 when Marchese scored from #10 Philip Evans to put his team up 2-1. Hutton would notch his second of the game at 13:14 from #7 Doug Murdoch to put the game out-of-reach. #1 Mitchell Cain picked up the win in net for the Peach Kings with Bosnich recorded the loss for the Tigers. Grimsby narrowly out-shot the Tigers by a 20-19 margin in the victory. Welland was 0-for-2 with the man-advantage while Grimsby was 1-for-5.
