Hamilton vs. Welland (1/24)
Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs vs. Welland Front Row Sports Tigers (Major Midget AAA)
Tigers put Bulldogs on tight leash, take them in a 9-1 walk
The Welland Front Row Sports Tigers mauled the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs last night at the Welland Arena in a 9-1 rout in SCTA Major Midget AAA action. #96 Jamie Tyminski netted a hat-trick in a 5-point performance and teammates #88 Matt Goch, #25 Brendan O’Brien. #15 Cody Loeffen and #27 Patrick Martin also had multi-point nights as the Tigers easily defeated the visiting Jr. Bulldogs.
Despite missing several regulars last evening, the Tigers completely dominated the play for the entire fifty minutes of play in what was clearly their best game of the season to date. #35 Joe Vanderzalm started in net for the Tigers and played a very strong game, with the Jr. Bulldogs solving him only once during the first period of play. #33 Matt Michaud saw some playing time in a relief role during the third period and did not allow any goals during his time minding the twine.
The Tigers attacked early, with Tyminski scoring on the power-play only 3:00 into the game from #8 Justin Desrochers and #19 Jason Turcin. #10 Dylan Braun would pad the lead at 13:05 from Martin and #66 Joe Wormald at 13:05, before Goch quickly added another from Loeffen to make it 3-0 at 14:11.
Goch scored the Tiger’s second power-play tally of the game at 3:58 of the second from Tyminski and Martin and Welland continued the quick strike ability with Tyminski scoring from O’Brien and Martin at 4:25 and #17 Walter Lumsden lighting the lamp at 4:39 from O’Brien and Tyminski for a commanding 6-0 advantage.
Tyminski would fire off his third goal of the night at 7:48 from O’Brien and Lumsden and Loeffen would close out the second period by scoring from Goch at 14:25. Welland would score once more at 12:13 of the third period, but goal scoring information could not be obtained due to technical difficulties.
#1 Bradley Pope took the loss for the Jr. Bulldogs allowing seven goals, while #35 Joe Vanderzalm picked up the win for Welland. Welland now stands at 7-17-3 on the season and will play host to the Grey-Bruce Highlanders in their next scheduled contest in a rare Saturday evening home game starting at 8:00pm.
