The Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers are off to a fine start in Major Peewee AAA action at the International Silver Stick Finals in Port Huron, MI as they defeated the Madison Capitols on Thursday afternoon in their opening match-up by a final score of 4-0.  Scoring information will be posted as it becomes available.  Welland plays twice on Friday with a morning tilt against Fire Hockey Club and an afternoon showdown with the New Jersey Rockets.

“Ring of Fire”

In their second game of the competition the Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers dropped a 6-4 decision at the hands of Fire Hockey, making thier road to advancement much more difficult.  Welland has another game against the New Jersey Rockets later this afternoon before lacing up against the Sun County Panthers on Saturday morning.

“Rocket”

The Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers disarmed the New Jersey Rockets 2-1 in their third game of the tournament and will now wrap up their tournament with a game against the Sun County Panthers tomorrow morning.  Fire Hockey, by virtue of its head-to-head win against the Tigers Friday will advance to the next round of the tournament, having already secured six points in the Group Pool.

“Black Hole Sun”

The Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers tranquilized the Sun County Panthers 4-2 early on Saturday morning to end their tournament on a high note.  The Tigers’ fate had already been sealed a day earlier when the combination of a loss to Fire Hockey and a Fire Hockey victory over the Sun County Panthers knocked them out of contention for the Group standings lead.

Quarter-final, Semi-final and Championship Games

The group of eight division winners squared off against one another in the Quarter-finals with Detroit crowning the SouthShore Kings 3-1, the Toronto Red Wings flattening Detroit Belle Tire 4-1, Los Angeles Selects quieting the Halton Hurricanes 5-1 and Fire Hockey burning the Westchester Express 6-5.  Honeybaked would pluck the Red Wings 5-2 semis with the LA Selects extinguishing Fire Hockey in a 5-1 decision.  Detroit Honeybaked would prevail 3-2 over the LA Selects to capture the title game.
