Fort Erie Meteors vs. Welland Young’s Insurance Tigers (Major Bantam A)
The Welland Young’s Insurance Tigers outpaced the Fort Erie Meteors 5-2 in recent Major Bantam A action before the Christmas break. The Tigers opened the scoring at 1:06 of the first and added another with three minutes remaining in the period to take a 2-0 lead into the middle frame. Fort Erie would cut the lead in half at 3:40 and then tie the game at 6:14 before Welland scored three unanswered goals to achieve the victory. Welland scored twice in the middle frame at 11:12 and 11:27 and then again at 6:55 of the third to seal the victory. Welland improves to 10-5-3 with the win.
The Tigers fired 20 shots at Meteors netminder #30, while Fort Erie fired 15 at #2 Dylan Tait. Welland went 0-for-3 with the man-advantage while the Meteors were 0-for-4 on the night with the extra man. Welland hosts Thorold in their next action before competing in the Pelham Silver Stick Invitational over the holiday break.
