Hamilton vs. Welland (12/22)
Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs vs. Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers (Major Peewee AAA)
Avenging a 3-0 loss on the road to this team ten days earlier, the Welland Mountainview Homes Tigers turned the tables on the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs and shut them out 4-0 in their return encounter played in the Rose City. #30 Spencer Smith recorded his fourth shutout of the season, and second against the Jr. Bulldogs this year, as his teammates staked him to a four-goal advantage and did a fantastic job of limiting Hamilton’s chances to score. The Tigers out-shot the Jr. Bulldogs by a 33-13 margin.
#18 Hunter Garlent put the Tigers into motion, finding the back of the Hamilton net at 6:10 of the first period on helpers from #16 Tyler Stranges and #14 Tyler Jackson. #10 Anthony Difruscia would add an insurance marker at 8:10 of the second period on an assist from Garlent before Jackson made it 3-0 at 11:31 by putting passes from Difruscia and #12 Joey Duliban behind the Jr. Bulldogs net-minder. Difruscia would close out the scoring at 13:57, with #17 Zach Olsson and #9 Hunter Salomons recording assists on the play.
Welland now prepares to face some stiff competition during the Holiday Week’s Bell Challenge Cup, taking place at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga.
