Niagara-on-the-Lake vs. Welland (12/1)
Niagara-on-the-Lake TomLynn Fuels Wolves vs. Welland Lifestyle Finanical Tigers (Minor Bantam A)
#18 Jakob Banner converted on two outstanding set-ups by #11 Colton Ambrosio to jumpstart the Welland Lifestyle Financial Tigers to a 2-0 lead within the first 2:07 of play as the Tigers soundly defeated the visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake TomLynn Fuels Wolves 7-0 in Minor Bantam A play on Saturday afternoon in Welland.
After Welland registered goals on their first two shots of the game, Wolves netminder #1 Palous responded by impressing everyone at the rink with his strong performance. The final score was not in his favour on this day, but he certainly put in a performance well worthy of first-star honours. He was shelled with 39 shots, making numerous difficult stops look easy. Nonetheless, the balanced Tigers offence did not let up until the final whistle, with several Tigers in on the seven goals recorded.
#1 Brodie Barrick recorded his easiest shutout of the season, his second of the year, needing to stop only three shots, all of which came in the second period, a period in which the Tigers fired 21 shots in the opposite direction. The Tigers looked equally impressive while playing short-handed, killing off the five penalties they were assessed during the game.
The Tigers return to the ice on Saturday as to try to bring down the visiting Fort Erie Meteors and build on their 8-8-1 record to date this season.
