Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles Thanksgiving Invitational, November 23-25, 2007
The Welland Lions Club Tigers traveled to the Dwyer Arena in Niagara Falls, NY to compete in this past weekend’s Thanksgiving Invitational. Unfortunately, they found the competition too stiff to advance out of the round-robin portion of the tournament, losing each of their three preliminary games.
In their first game, the Tigers lost to the Tonawanda Lightning 4-1, with #14 Brodie Thoms recording the team’s only goal on an assist from #19 Connor Jolliffe. Their second match saw them fall to an always-tough Markham Waxers team 6-3, with #17 Joshua Croteau, #5 Ben Otto and #19 Jolliffe finding the net and #17 Croteau, #19 Jolliffe, #14 Thoms, #9 Madison Gallant, #18 Sam Leclair and ##11 Liam Pouliot providing the assists. The Hamburg Hawks defeated the Tigers by a sore of 4-1 in their last game, with #17 Croteau providing the lone goal on a helper from #9 Gallant.
The Tigers will next take the ice at home against the Grimsby Peach Kings in regular-season play on Saturday, whom they have tied 4-4 and defeated 5-4 in their two previous meetings this season.
