Not just a hockey blog…
While watching hockey is my primary wintertime focus, I will be covering other sports as my time allows. In the summer I attend a lot of minor lacrosse, baseball and ball hockey games, and the occasional soccer game. Yes, this blog is named Rink Rat Rants, and hockey and lacrosse – which both take place inside Welland’s two rinks – will be a main foci, but any local achievements in the local sport scene may also be highlighted here, at least occasionally.
I want to take this time to congratulate the team members of the Jean Vanier Lynx Senior Volleyball team who followed up on last season’s second-place finish at the Championships by bringing home their school’s first provincial gold medal in the school’s 15-year history by capturing this year’s 2007 OFSSA “A” Volleyball title during this past weekend’s event held in Carelton Place, Ontario.
Your 2007 OFSAA “A” Volleyball Champions:
Ethan Beauparlant Jesse Brideau Brad Desrochers Ismael Halich Eric Labrie Patrick Martin Cedrick Michaud Justin Morin Kamil Oubayan Randy Poulin Lévis Rouillard Kyle Salewski Jeremy Secord Kyle Secord Ryan Sellan Derek Sutherland Michael Zezella
Congratulations extend to the coaching staff of Phillipe Desjardins and his Assistant Coaches Christian Belanger and Jeremy Lacroix on another fine season and a great accomplishment for their school and our city
