Thorold Beaverloch Farms Tournament
The Welland Young’s Insurance Tigers put in an impressive showing at the Thorold Beaverloch Farms tournament this past weekend, reaching the championship game on the strength of their first-place finish in the round-robin portion. The Tigers opened the tournament by defeating the St. Catharines Falcons 3-2 before winning 5-2 over the Niagara Falls Thunder. Their only loss in the round-robin came at the hands of the host Thorold Blackhawks in thier next game, who edged them in a 1-0 nailbiter. The Tigers rebounded with a 5-0 shutout victory against the Guelph Storm which set up a rematch with the Blackhawks in the final, where the Blackhawks went on to defeat the Tigers once again, this time by a 3-1 margin.
